Billula ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our expense tracking application.

Privacy First: Billula is designed with privacy at its core. All your financial data is stored locally on your device and is never uploaded to our servers.

Data Processed by Third-Party Services

When you use the receipt scanning feature, the following occurs:

Receipt Scanning: When you scan a receipt, the image is sent to Google Cloud Vision API for text extraction. Google processes the image to extract text and returns the results. Google's use of this data is governed by their Cloud Privacy Notice.

How We Use Your Information

Since all data is stored locally on your device, we do not have access to your personal financial information. The data on your device is used solely to:

Display your expense history and analytics
Calculate budgets and spending summaries
Send local notifications for bill reminders
Generate expense reports for export

Data Security

We take the security of your data seriously:

Local Storage: All financial data remains on your device
Biometric Authentication: Optional Face ID/Touch ID protection
No Account Required: No personal information needed to use the app
No Cloud Sync: Your data is not synced to any cloud servers

Your Responsibility: Since data is stored locally, we recommend regularly backing up your device and enabling the app's backup feature to prevent data loss.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties. The only exception is:

Receipt Scanning: When you choose to scan a receipt, the image is processed by Google Cloud Vision API to extract text. This is an optional feature that you initiate.

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

Access: View all your data within the app at any time
Export: Download your data as CSV files
Delete: Remove individual expenses or clear all data
Backup: Create and restore local backups

To delete all app data, you can uninstall the app or use the "Clear All Data" option in Settings.

Children's Privacy

Billula is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
